Are you sure you don't have local and remote mixed up?  Usually you
start X clients on the same machine where you ran 'xpra start', not
'xpra attach'.

(If so, any suggestions for clearer terminology gratefully accepted;
this whole thing with "servers" and "clients" and all is definitely
confusing.)
